ABOUT ME
Welcome! I'm Angie Tan. I left my career as a journalist with an international news agency to set up Puppylove in 2001 when I realised dog training was so much more than rolled up newspapers and choke chains. I wanted to share what I found with as many people and dogs as possible.
My dog training journey started with a couple of beagles. One of them chomped through 8 pairs of shoes, 1 wallet and a $100 bill. The other bit 3 people in a single day. Ai! What a mess!
I needed to know why these crazy canines were acting the way they were and most importantly, how I can integrate them into the family.
My search for answers took me all over the United States. I wrangled chickens in Arkansas with the amazing Bob Bailey, shared a kiss with wolves in Indiana, trained shelter dogs at the renowned San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers as well as at the Animal Behavior Center of New York.
I also spent weeks attending instructor seminars and workshops held by animal behaviorists and trainers like Dr Ian Dunbar, Jean Donaldson, Dr Raymond Coppinger, Terry Ryan, Bob Bailey and Susan Garrett.
As a result, I've developed a sound understanding of the science behind animal training as well as the care and keeping of Man's Best Friend.
